How Tours are Scheduled

We’d like to share a little background on how tours are put together and resolve a lot of common misconceptions. We like to keep this a fun and friendly atmosphere, yet every year, the same question is asked over and over – not only in our Facebook group, but in the multitude of emails sent expressing annoyance and frustration.

The questions are….Will Pat and Spyder play my town? Will you tell them to play my town? Why aren’t they playing my town? Why do they play that town and not my town? Why didn’t you tell me they were going to play my town in September? I bought tickets to another show in June?  Why aren’t they playing in Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, Canada, etc…

We don’t make decisions on where the band plays (or else they would be playing in my back yard). The band doesn’t pick some locations and not others. This is how it works.

The Agents let the venues, casinos and fairs know that the band is available on a range of days and is putting together a tour. The agents map out a basic tour and try and fit in locations that make sense mileage wise. The band travels on buses – so you have to pay attention on how long the drive will be to the next city. After the agents put together offers – Personal and Production managers sign off on the show.

The entire tour routing isn’t always complete. When we start announcing shows. We might have 75% of the dates available. More are added all the time. We have a pretty good idea where the band will be playing, but until there are contracts in hand and the venue has coordinated an announce date, we can’t share that information with you. (Watch the Facebook group closely. Sometimes we give out hints.)

Why does the band play this town more than this town?
Because the venue promoters are making them a fantastic offer, and its makes sense with the tour routing.

Will the band play my town?
You will need to be patient and wait for the tour info to be posted.

Will you ask the band to play my town?
No, it’s not that the band doesn’t want to play your city, its just that isn’t how things work. If you want them to play your town…go to the venues and ask them to book the band. It never hurts to ask.

Why didn’t you tell me the band was playing in this city…and then booked a show in my city. I’ve already spent my money and can’t afford to go to both shows?
Because the show wasn’t booked at the time.

Are you really mean people working in the management office?
No, really we’re not! We have no business affiliation with the band at all. They are gracious enough to provide us with access to the information that helps us keep you informed.
