Pat Benatar DiscographyLive from Earth
Album comments from various places LOVE IS A BATTLEFIELD Neil: That was the last song on the album to be put on guitar. After going through so many rhythms and so many keyboard parts, by the time I got done with it I was so burned out that the only thing left was just to try to find a pocket that felt good. Myron: Because Neil is the producer he gives more thought to the arrangement of the song. So as he suggests different parts to different people it's starts to eliminate options. Pat: The last thing we do now is guitar, because he simply won't do it. LIPSTICK LIES Pat: That was a jam. We just came in, everybody came in and did it. Myron: I started it and Patti wrote some of it,too. It was an older idea I had that was abslutely horrible. For years we tried to figure out a way to do the song, and then all of a sudden it clicked. Neil came with up something; Patti came up with something. Neil: There were four or five diiferent songs. Pat: We would come in with pages and you pick a verse here, pick a chorus. He writes like rediculousy. Me, I take 52 weeks to write a verse and I know exactly what I want to say; I've just got to find the right word. Myron is just like diarrhea of the mouth. He just writes and writes and writes. Myron: But a lot of times, when I write lyrics, I depend on Patti, because you can write something and it only reads well. Neil: But it doesn't sing well.
