Pat Benatar Fan Club 2004 Concert Reviews
January 31 Set List:
Well the show wasn't a wash out after all, but it didn't look good during the drive down. We drove through some heavy rain, and at one point thought about heading back home. By the time we reached the venue the sky cleared a bit, and the show went on as scheduled. Although it was short (about an hour and a half) it was worth the drive. The set list was nothing unusual with the exception of an acoustic version of "Sorry". The crowd received it well and in my opinion was the high light of the show. They also played a Kick ass version of "Go". It sprinkled a little about half way into the set, but the crowd didn't seem to mind. A funny note. The run off from the canopy over the stage was dripping on the front of the stage making it a bit treacherous for Pat. Neil signaled crew to get something to wipe up the water. Suddenly a few guys (including Neil) come running out with towels wiping up the stage. Neil laid a towel down like a carpet and bowed down in front of Pat as if worshiping her. The crow got a chuckle. Neil's father lives here in Florida, and was in the audience. Neil took a moment to introduce him and had him stand up. Pat said< "Hi, Pop", and then something in Italian. Neil finished by saying he was a carpenter, a genuine Italian craftsmen. Before during and after the show, Wally and I bumped into a few fan clubmembers including Miguel, Scott McQuillen and others. I'm terrible with names sometimes. As always it's great to see everyone. For the most part the rain held off until about an hour after the show. Then it came down in buckets. Made for an interesting drive home. Take care. George

June 29 Fan Review by Scott Kluetsch The show was Pat and Neil performing and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts on the same ticket. This was the first time I had seen Joan Jett perform live. She did a great show. She performed "Light of Day ", "I Love Rock and Roll" and ended with "I Hate myself for Loving You ". I had read in a e-mail from the fan club that Cindy O'Connor was not on the tour with Pat and Neil, so I was curious to see if she was coming out with the band when Pat and Neil got on stage. It was everybody but her, so the e-mail was correct. It was a hot evening. They had fans at both ends of the stage. Neil at one point in the beginning of the concert asked for it to be turned on. Of anything new that had happened in there life, Neil had gotten a new tattoo. He pointed it out before they performed "Love is a Battlefield " and "Sorry " acoustic. It is a Hula dancer on his left arm.
Something funny that happened during the concert: when they changed Mic stands from after performing the two acoustic songs, Pat went to set up the mic stand and it bounced, almost off stage. Pat just laughed and wondered what was up with it. The set list was basically the same from last years show. To my surprise the tour shirt didn't have the list of cities they were performing at. Something different for the tour shirt. Overall a great night and great show. Fan Review by Sue Thomas Went to see Pat and Neil at the Taste of Chicago last night. Pat sounded great, as always. Her voice was extremely strong and she hit the high notes with perfection. The set list was as follows:
July 3 Ellicotteville, NY Summer Festival of the Arts Fan review by Michael Sirianni
This was a wonderful experience. I've been to many pat concerts, stage was set up on the beautiful ski slopes of Holiday Valley Resort. The weather was perfect sunny, calm, dry. (not like the rest of the summer has been so far in upstate NY) Pat and neil were scheduled to hit the stage @ 9pm, This was lawn seating. doors opened @ 6pm. the crowd of all ages, families, lovers, everyone was just hanging out until the show started, eating packed picnic sandwhiches, having drinks, throwing frisbee's and footballs. All I could think was this was a big pat picnic, it was great. Well the show was about an 1hr. and 50 min. One of the longest shows I have been to. There was a festival earlier during the day. and after the show fireworks ended the night. As for the show itself, as in all the other reviews, awesome. If they schedule to play @ Ellicottville next year I would recomend the trip from where-ever you live. For me It was a night I will remember for many years.
Set List for this show:
New York City, NY B.B. King's Blues Club Fan review by Justin McManus A great set by Pat and Co......the crowd at BB Kings was WAAAY into this show and Pat and Neil definitely got "fired up" over it. The set list was the same as the Camden show, but Pat changed it a bit at the end by saying "this crowd has been so great, I just need to go with something different" and then she went into We Belong acoustically, which of course sent the crowd into a frenzy before Hit Me With Your Best Shot. Neil remarked that this was the best NYC crowd they played to in 15 years! Set list as follows:
July 8 Verona, NY Turning Stone Casino Fan review by Natalie Jones Wow! The show was awesome! The crowd was totally into it tonight, and the place was packed. There's really not much different to tell that you haven't already read, except that Pat and Neil gave us a special treat. They did Kingdom Key!!! Yes you read right, Kingdom Key. I've never heard it done live before, and it blew me away. The night couldn't have been any better. The coolest part was meeting Luca, from Italy. He came all the way here, just to see Pat. Now, that's a true fan. HB, Robin, and The Blackistons, it was great seeing you again. Set list:
July 22 Benatar-Geraldo blend old, new - Cape Cod Times review
July 30 The show last night was awesome. Beth Hart opened again. Neil was on fire, and playing with more energy than I have seen in a while. It's amazing what a day off does for them. Pat was in top form as usuall, and surprised us with a special treat. Beth Hart and her guitarist did We Belong with them. Two guitars together on that song sounded amazing, and really added a nice change of pace. It was great that we got something different, and didn't have to loose anything. I haven't seen a 15 song set list in years. The set list:
July 31 The concert was sold out. Beth Hart opended for Pat and Neil. I didn't really watch her but what i did see sounded good. Pat sounded amazing as usual. She seemed to be lacking a little energy, but Neil made up for that. The show was still incredible. They both seemed to be having a blast, involving the everyone watching. The only problem was there were two fights that broke out in the middle of the show. It didn't effect Pat and Neil. They just kept playing, but security took the people outside. Lots of cameras were going off, and many people got into trouble, but when Neil came around for True Love I asked him if I could take a picture and he said "yeah go ahead girl" and so I did (the guards didn't mind). I am pretty sure this is the set list for Penn's Peak:
August 1 Hitting With Her Best Shot - Richmond.com preview Storm packs its best shot, but Benatar hits right back - Times Dispatch review
October 17 Fan Review by Katy Kendall The Agoura Hills show Sunday night was fantastic!! Pat said she felt like everyone there was someone she knew! This club, the Canyon Club seems intimate and smallish, but they apparently sold over 750 tickets to the show. The majority of us did the dinner ticket and it was packed! There was an opening band, Hangface, who were a group of four young guys from Norway. They sang a few nice tunes kinda rockin' kinda blues, not too punk, so it was a good opening act. By the time Pat came out-probably 9:15, there was standing room only all around those of us seated. The crowd was a bit noisy during the times when Pat or Neil were talking to us...which I usually enjoy-their banter, that is, so I wanted them to be quiet-but what are ya gonna do? Sit back and enjoy the show!!
They opened with
Girl
Invincible
Love Is A Battlefield did the acoustic Sorry - Neil strummed the heck out of this song and it was terrific!
Hell Is For Children
Hit Me With Your Best Shot We sat with a couple who was looking forward to hearing some of the Blues album, they were glad to hear True Love. And another guy was amazed at Pat's voice, and ability to still sing so well!! He also asked who wrote for them and I got to toss some knowledge out there and lots of pride when I told him They Do!! It is always fun to sit with newbies! I think I have successfully hooked my friend Carol, she's gone to 3 shows now with me! I am determined to see them at least once a year. I was a little concerned when, for the longest time, no shows were near the west coast even, for the whole summer-then finally 2 show up, but southern California isn't exactly near Carson City, NV. So Carol, who lives near Thousand Oaks, calls to say this Agoura Hills show is 20 minutes from her-let's GO!! I got the okay and shove from the husband to do it and we planned the trip and show. A few weeks before I am due to go, I am driving thru Tahoe and low and behold they are going to be at Caesars the night before I am going to see them in California! What a lark! And go figure!! It was fun to go with a friend who is really getting into Pat and Neil, and worth the trip-first time I've been away from the family since ten years ago when the first kid was born! Guess it was time! GREAT to see the band and hear the vocal magic that woman can generate! Until next time...Katy K
